I have been in the Sacred Healing 7 - Herbology Class for 3 months and I am enjoying it. MaaKheper-Ast and her sister are very
informative, patient and kind. I have learned about herbs and how
they work. About Kemetic, Ayurveda, Chinese and Western healing
methods. The books that are recommended study material are great and
informative as well. I am so glad to be taking this course with them to
further my path of healing.

 It
was many years ago (1982) when I began my formal study of herbology
under Master Herbalist Sri Zakiyyah Madyun. After 3 years of study at
her Wushu Herb Center in the Bronx I successfully earned my
Certification. Her classes were amazing. The structure of the lessons,
along with the hand outs and hands-on approach Zakiyyah uses to impart
her knowledge, made the learning stimulating and extremely
interesting.
Upon completion of her herb course I was
confident that I was qualified to step out as an Herbal Practitioner.
I did just that, and have not looked back. I subsequently developed my
own herbal practice -
"Nature's Medicine Cabinet - Restoring Balance and Harmony" - and to
this day my practice continues to bring me much joy and satisfaction. I
find it pleasing to my soul to be able to offer people
natural/alternative solutions to traditional ailments. But my success
is, in large part, due not only to the class work, but to the wonderful
support I have gotten from Zakiyyah over the many years since my
certification. She has always been supportive by either helping me
compose herbal formulas, or just freely giving guidance when I needed
assistance with a client's particular situation.
Understand,
the course is intense and requires a real commitment, but if you truly
want to learn about herbology and various healing modalities and
therapies, then Zakiyyah is the only way to go! Believe me, it
will be well worth the investment - and you'll have fun along the
way!! (Even this past year, she has been encouraging me to step out
and teach my own herb course . . . maybe one day.)

 Where
do I begin to describe Zakiyyah? I have known Zakiyyah now for about 8
yrs and the one phrase that comes to mind is “she needs to be cloned”.
Eight years ago I was introduced to her by a close friend who was one
of her martial arts students. At that time
my immune system was at an all time low, and had basically collapsed.
I desparately needed to rebuild myself, from the inside out. After
Zakiyyah worked up a thorough health profile and generated a
combination of herb formulas for me to take, together with my
naturo-path/homeopathic doctor, I was able to rebuild myself into a
healthier me. It took some time, but it was definitely a turning point
for me regarding my health.

- my second encounter with Zakiyyah came in 2002 when I suffered 3rd
degree burns on my leg and arm in a freak kitchen accident. My leg and
arm had no skin; everything had been seared away and was totally
exposed. It was the most unbearable pain I had ever experienced. I
called Zakiyyah, and set up an appointment where she prescribed a
mixture of herbs that - to this day - I know saved my leg from a
vicious cycle of infections. At that degree of burn most people suffer
repeat infections. I was out of
commission for 6 months, unable to walk. I was barely able walk three
feet without pain killers. I was unable to have cosmetic surgery
because I didn't have enough body fat for my surgeon to work with. It
was only because I followed her herbal mixture remedy that I never
suffered any infections at all, and was able to heal far better than my
cosmetic surgeon thought I could. Needless
to say, 5 1/2 yrs later, people now tell me the burn looks like a birth
mark. She is a remarkable teacher, healer and individual.
After
this life-altering event, I have learned the value of having simple,
yet effective, natural, herbal therapy and healing knowledge at one's
fingertips. For years I have been waiting for her to start teaching
her herb courses again, having learned first hand how this knowledge
drastically affected my health and life. I am glad she has decided to
once again impart her valuable knowledge, skills and experience to the
community-at-large through her herb courses.
